Flowing through Time: Sheffield’s River Don

Monday 6 November 19:30 - 21:00

Rising on the moors to the north-west of Sheffield and flowing over 70 miles before merging with the waters of the Ouse at Goole, this is the river that has shaped Sheffield’s history. The Don has in turn been moulded and transformed by the demands placed upon it. Supplying water-power to literally turn the wheels of industry and becoming Sheffield’s transport route to the sea, the very nature of the river has been altered over centuries.

Following the course of the Don, this presentation by Mike Spick highlights sights and places that have survived these many changes and those which are now just memories.
