Waxy Blocks are pleased to present another night of intimate experimental music in Sheffield’s only 16th Century music venue.
Sam and the Plants
Sam McLoughlin known as Sam and the Plants plays homemade instruments and contraptions, along with guitar, analog synths, harmonium and pump organ. Sometimes he sings songs, other times he combines handmade Moondog-like percussion with microphone feedback, synth drones and unpredictable bowed textures to produce improvised music with magical and shamanic overtones.
Minimalist, haunting folk songs from Sheffield via Nottingham, R.Loomes sings melancholic, dark, and sincere folk accompanied by sparse, mesmeric electric guitar.
Dean McPhee is a solo electric guitarist who combines fluid, chiming melodic lines with shimmering drones and deep layers of decaying delay and echo. He has a unique style of playing which draws together influences from British Folk, Dub, Kosmische, Post Rock and Mali Blues and his music is hypnotic and dreamlike. Dean has played and toured with artists including Thurston Moore, Acid Mothers Temple, Eric Chenaux, Josh T Pearson, Sharon Van Etten, and Josephine Foster.
