 1801 to a Sheffield family with strong religious and moral convictions\, M
 ary Anne Rawson continued\, and built upon\, this foundation to become a l
 eading supporter and campaigner for the underprivileged. A modest woman wi
 th no political ambitions she used her position in society to support a my
 riad of causes\, becoming particularly well known for her anti-slavery cam
 paigning and championing of children's education. Upon her death in 1887 s
 he was buried in Zion graveyard\, Attercliffe\, having left her few remain
 ing assets to the people of Wincobank.\n\n\n\n
