Sonido Polifonico are delighted to announce the return of Pete Astor to Bishops’ House after a wonderful sold-out appearance here in 2023. As long-time fans of the Loft and Weather Prophets, we were over the moon when we managed to book him last year to play, and his performance and stories kept a full house entertained across two sets.
He returns to promote his new album, due to be released on Tapete records. Maybe just one set but the songs say it all.
“A lifetime of listening has led me to believe that Pete Astor’s songs would have always found a way to reach an audience. If he’d been a Californian baby boomer, he’d have ended up in the Capitol Records building in Los Angeles, laying down late-night grooves with the Wrecking Crew for a largely-neglected, slightly gloomy, pop album that’d now be worth a fortune. If he’d been born into post-War Britain, earnest girls in sweaters would’ve fallen in love with him, and his songs, in Embassy-fogged folk clubs. – Danny Kelly, NME”

Doors are 7pm with music starting at 7.45pm. We recommend getting to the venue in advance of 7:45pm as the space is intimate and manoeuvring around can be difficult once the gig starts. You are welcome to bring your own liquid refreshment as we do not have a bar.
