The Sheffield Jungle stood on Hawley Street through the winters of 1910/11 and 1912/13. It was a spectacular show of wild animals and bizarre entertainments. The Sheffield Jungle Project has looked at this event and traced the context and changes through to present day.
Come along and listen to Ian Trowell of Sheffield’s National Fairground Archive talk about the Jungle, and the new childrens’ story book about it. The book tells the story of a grandparent recalling the Jungle to his doubting grandson. It is a story about memory, believability and story-telling itself. FREE
